I was pleased to undertake one of my first ministerial visits as the new Energy Minister in Northamptonshire earlier this week.

Speaking with the owners of Mount Hill Farm in Wicken, I heard directly about the benefits to the agri-food sector of converting unused or poor agricultural land to other uses, including for photovoltaic cells, which can provide funding for more traditional farming activities.

However, it is important that agricultural land that could be used for crops or grazing is not unduly converted, and it was good to see that Mount Hill Farm has struck the right balance.
