The rise in the UKIP fortunes stem from the inability of the major parties to meet the demands of the ordinary people for a stop to the mass migration from Eastern Europe and also the widescale abuse of the 1951 UN Refugees Act. In addition many Conservative voters were deluded about or are ignorant of the 1957 Treaty of Rome which has always stated that the end process of the EU was full scale monetary, political and social union! The only way therefore to stop this process is to have the courage "get off the bus". No political party apart from UKIP is prepared to do this and the result has been many Conservative voters switching their votes to UKIP. The UK is a small island and yet hundreds of millions would come here at the drop of a hat. The Labour Party are happy to change the nature of British society as many migrants vote for them. The 13000 estimated number of migrants from Eastern Europe is anything upto a million now. The implications for the debt control and public spending when you cannot control the numbers entering here is horrendous. Yet three major parties all bleat about how vital the EU is. Well the EU'auditors will not sign off its acounts due to corruption and alas the single currency is indeed the disaster any intelligent person could have told you it would become. The Conservatives must be prepared to "leave the bus" especially as this bus is in world terms starting to go backwards. (less)

The Bank of England has been stealing money from savers and pensioners for years by setting extremely low interest rates. Now through the Bank of England's Quantitative Easing program they are paying 35 Billion pounds to the Government through interest the BOE has made due to the low interest rates they created. That 35 Billion dollars in interest is actually the lost interest that savers and pensioners have lost due to the low interest rates on savings that the Bank of England set. You don't make money out of thin air (or do you if you are the BOE?). That 35 Billion dollars the BOE is paying to the government for the lost interest earned by savers and pensioners is a new super tax on savers. (less)

People have to travel out of the town to find employment
only to find when they return
they have to sit queues of traffic on the A5 to try and get back home or reach ALDI or Tesco to get shopping.
When the M1 has problems its complete nightmare with
traffic doing uturns in middle of the road to find a way out
of the mess. Perhaps you could raise these points to

MPs will this week try to change the law, may be parliament could start by having HMRC pay its bills on time, as a company we are owed some 12,000.00 by HMRC for cis tax dating back to last year, if the company owes tax we must have t paid by May or else the government department is closing your company, when HMRC owe you well they pay when and if they feel like it?.Small company's can not afford to have this amount of money sat in the HMRC pocket unless ths is resolved many companies are facing going bust as well. Maybe ths can be raised in Parliment next week as well and maybe the press should highlight this department to as being responsible for sending small construction business to the wall. cash flow is vital in todays troubled times and to have the HMRC holiding on to it is not acceptable. In my opinion Quantitative Easing actually scares investors off as they can tell the economy is on the ropes when Quantitative Easing is applied. Let's get to the end of the down cycle without Quantitative Easing artificially inflating assets then build a strong economy. It's the only real way to ensure proper growth and a strong economy. Make Britain great again not a zombie. (less)

Just a note to say that I strongly support the trialling of 80mph speed limits on stretches of motorway that are safe enough to allow it. Motorists are already exercising their common sense and travelling at these speeds when conditions permit. I see no reason to suppose their behaviour will be any different if the limit is raised. They will continue to travel at speeds they feel comfortable with. It would just mean they didn't need to be concentrating on looking out for police cars and speed cameras. They could concentrate on potential road hazards instead, making the whole experience safer for everyone. Those few nutters who drive recklessly now will continue to do so regardless of posted limits and should continue to be the focus of
police enforcement of good driving practice, which is by means measured by speed alone. I believe there would be a positive benefit to the economy with reduced journey times. (less)

Should I sign up for my daughter's student finance form and condemn her to owe £72000 by the end of her university degree? Can I trust future governments to keep the repayments schedules as they are being sold now to sixth formers? Or do I take the examples of changing pension provision and retirement age as likley indicators of what future governments are going to have to do on national interest grounds of course. Apparently sixth formers like my daughter can have every aspect of their repayment schedules changed including minimum repayment rates and the interest rates changed. It is a contract that applies only one way and every person by signing up accepts that a future government can change the conditions of repayment at any time. Does not seem so fair now does it? When we talk about Britsh jobs how much do we actually consider the plight of the publican and sporting clubs who along with mr average drinker is being robbed blind by the greed of both the breweries and the treasury. There is an alcohol problem in this country but how can this solved by charging a publican 4 times the rate that a supermarket obtains its beer for. Few publicans will get a pint of lager for less than £2 pint but look in supermarkets and you can buy the same lager for less than 50 pence a pint. The result is 16 pubs closing down a week. There used to be an expression about killing the golden goose well how can the treasury gain tax in the future if it continues to close down pubs so successfully. (less)

This is very exciting for us and hope to double our numbers within the next 12 months. I am looking for another venue in the area for our Festival this year (its normally at the University in Northampton). The date is 14th July 2012. If I can get a venue in this area would you please come and see what we are doing? We teach anyone on Wind, Brass and Percussion instruments for only £2 an hour in groups. I feel that public transport prices (mainly public buses) are far too high, providing one of the main disincentives to people of Northamptonshire utilising this facility. If prices were lowered this would economically increase demand for the buses. Also I feel that the lack of direct bus routes is disappointing as a journey to Milton Keynes from Towcester takes nearly an hour whereas in the car it would take twenty minutes maximum, due to the numerous amount of stops taken on this journey. Also I cannot travel from Towcester to Bugbrooke without travelling to town (another 40-45 minute journey) which is frustrating for me as I study over in that area. More efficiency and lower prices would significantly improve this county's public transport system and I feel that it is an issue which should be pressed forward. (less)

Good Afternoon, I just wanted to draw your attention to this entry on the e-petition site. It's only got modest support at the moment, but I think it's an important issue. http://epetitions.direct.gov.uk/petitions/5339
The issues surrounding this petition affect me most in terms of educational establishments. For example, I notice that my son's school (Nicholas Hawksmoor.) seems to send emailed letters to parents in a proprietary format. Also, I have experience of the University of Northampton using a similar proprietary format which, to make matters worse, has very poor interoperability across office software suites. To me, use of these proprietary formats implies that these establishments are spending public funds unnecessarily on software licensing fees. In addition to that, they are unintentionally creating the interoperability barriers I mentioned.
To end on a positive note, I think this article (https://joinup.ec.europa.eu/news/linux-no-trouble-all-plymouth-schools-students) goes to show that there is an extremely viable alternative.
Best Regards. (less)

Hi Andrea, Linda ex domestic dollies here. My son is in trails with London Broncos and has to be taken to Roehampton London at least twice a week. I am now registered disabled and on benifit after working hard all my working life as well of bring up 5 children. My husband is on a really low wage (£7.00 hr) no over time. My son is at Moulton college rugby academy studying sports and science. His dream is to play for London Broncos first team and these trails he is in are for the under 18's side. We are using money that should pay bills and food to get him to London to train every week. It is costing £85.00 to fill our car up and costing about £32 a trip to London and we have just filled up the car but when this fuel has gone we don't know how we are going to get Jamie to London and also to aldershot on 17th for his first game. It is so unfair that because of fuel costs Jamie might have to give up on his dream and I am gutted that I cannot give him the support I gave my other children. Fuel costs are playing such a big part in our hardship. Best regards Linda x (less)

Dear Ms Leadsome, I am concerned regarding the environment and the need to save fuel and cut back on emmissions generally. Please advise how a party that is for the environment allows a project such as the HST 2 to continue. The locomotives will use 2 to 3 more fuel compared to pesent transportation, when travelling at full speed. I asked the question to several groups and nobody can give an answer to the question of fuel and emmissions. I consider this to be a very fundamental issue, as how can anybody calculate fares, running expenses and profits if this is an unknown. As an engineer I would laught out of the room if such basic information was not available.

I believe the power of the party Whips should be curtailed so that every member of Parliament can vote according to his or her conscience without being labelled a rebel or effectively relinquishing all hope of high office.
A sensible form of proportional representation would be one way of achieving this but it is not the only one. Personally I would like to see separate elections for the office of Prime Minister and members of Parliament.
Unless we make time for a serious debate on this issue the people, especially the young, will become increasingly disillusioned with our democratic process. (less)

following the problems with Equitable Life my wife and I decided to save for our retirement through investing in our home. The plan was to sell up when our children left home, downsize, and use the balance to help fund our retirement. We need to sell in the next two years but find ourselves in a situation where we will be unable to realise the value of our home even if we were able to sell it. Whilst the government have announced various possible schemes to help those directly affected none of them cover our situation. We live about 800 yards away from where the line will be built in the glorious countryside and we want to downsize. What do we do now???? (less)

Employer's PAYE payment is a complete nightmare to use online.
why should small businesses like myself be subsidising organisations like vodafone that appear to be getting away with murder.
the whole organisation needs slim-lining and simplifying. (less)

BT seem to move the faulty lines from house to house as people complain rather than whats needed, which is to replace the whole lot. It would be nice if we could get fibre, but a decent piece of copper would be at least an improvement. What is the point of fibre to the local switch (not that we have this) if the cable that actually runs to the houses comes out of the arc. When are we in rural areas going to get treated to the same technology as those in towns. They are talking about 4G mobile we can't even get 3G. (less)

There are many more who should be brought before the courts and made to answer for their actions in the same way any benefit cheat would be expected to do . We now hear that one very short lived minister has returned to parliament and could be back in the
Government shortly having claimed tens of thousands of pounds wrongly. Stolen is a far more accurate description and being a brilliant minister can not be an excuse for no action being taken. (less)

I’d not heard much about what you were doing since you were elected – Twitter went very quiet for some months after the votes were in. I found some time to read your website today. Oh how my heart sank. Of the three major issues on your website- wind-farms, HS2 and planning you’re taking a negative stance. It would nice to have a campaign or two on there where you encourage development and investment.
How about some localism? Northampton bleats on about how moving some Saints matches to MK costs the town millions – yet the borough council is blocking development of the Saints stadium, perhaps you could encourage some forward thinking there? Let’s not have another Ikea fiasco where firms wanting to invest in the region find Northamptonshire makes it so hard for them they move to MK.
It’s time Northampton and Northamptonshire stopped blocking and started attracting development unless we want to be permanently overshadowed by our more forward thinking neighbours. (less)

I am amazed and saddened to hear that the general increase planned for retirement pension does not include those already receiving the said pension. Older folk may join in less activities but expenses increase when it becomes necessary to employ others to do jobs that the pensioner was previously capable of carrying out themselves e.g. decorating a room, doing laundry, mowing the lawn etc. and of course extra heating when becoming sedentary. Savings are usually depleted as domestic items need replacing - washing machines, threadbare carpets etc. etc.. This is age discrimination and is unjust. I hope you will speak on behalf of this elderly group at every opportunity, especially as this group is less likely to be heard in society,

The proposed support for first time buyers is merely propping up massively over inflated house prices that people can't afford. The real issue is that house prices are way too high. If the government continues with policies to support this bubble, people, particularly in rural areas, will never be able to afford to buy their own house. The best way of helping first time buyers would be to let house prices fall to a level where people could afford to buy without putting themselves at serious financial risk for the rest of their lives. Put up interest rates and make banks and individuals responsible for the loans they give/take out to bring some sense back into the financial system. (less)

I am currently living in Hartwell and have just found out that the only bus that covers the village is slated to be cut as from May 22nd. I emailed the company (Arriva) and received a reply stating that they were still discussing tenders with the council but it looked likely the council would be cutting the service, leaving myself and many others stranded.
I do not own a car as I had to surrender my license due to medical grounds, so this bus service (the 33 and 33A) is the only way I have to get to and from the village. There are many elderly people in the village who will be affected by this as well.
Surely there are better ways to make cuts than removing the only public transport access this village has!

I have used Street Doctor on a number of occassions to report large potholes, but the authorities, when they do turn out, bodge a couple of tiny holes and leave the rest.
I know budget contraints is a big issue, but as most of the cost is manpower and getting them on site, why do the authority concerned not put in larger and safer repairs.
This junction is used by a fairly high number of 2 wheel users, and once the holes fill with mud/water, it must surely be a matter of time before someone has a nasty accident. (less)

I read with interest your website and in particular the issues and campaigns setions relating to housing. I note your concerns relating to to the fact that we need more homes - but they must be built in a way that protects the environment and provides the infrastructure to support local communities.
That's why local people need to decide where new homes should go, instead of Whitehall bureaucrats.
Would you support the local community in opposing such a development in Towcester that has infrastructure creaking at the seams, or at least ensure that the local authority makes the decision rather than a labour imposed quamngo? (less)

Countless traffic lights situated on roundabouts and junctions throughout the county and country could be turned off during the early evening until just before rush hour the next morning. If the lights went off at 8.00pm and came back on at 6.00am that would be a saving of 10 hours energy per day per set of traffic lights (42%), consider the saving across the country. Also when I was a child all street lights went off at midnight. Why do we need to have so many street lights on. It can not be for security because houses are alarmed and much more secure than they were in the 1960's. This could be a massive energy saving move.
Also, drive around office parks and see the number of offices that are lit up like Blackpool Illuminations. The owners say its for security but sensors can be installed into all these offices so that if an intruder enters a room the lights come on. A much better deterrent, lights on some one is in the building!!! (less)

I have not been able to access the town for some time but understand that more places have closed. If one did not need estate agents, tesco/Waitrose, banks, building societies, pubs or takeaways then do not shop in Brackley. Why have the smaller shops had to close? I don’t believe that leaving the EU altogether presents the best option for the UK. I think we should seek fundamental reform at EU level, something that is now possible because of the eurozone crisis that has made the status quo an unrealistic option for all EU members...... only if we are unsuccessful in our reform efforts should we consider leaving. The process of leaving, potentially taking up to 3 years to negotiate out of the complex web of agreements and treaties would have, I believe, a terrible impact on our economy. The opportunity cost of leaving is also high – the UK is the biggest EU recipient of foreign direct investment – we are attractive to investors because we speak English, we have good contract law, and above all, we are a stop off point to a market of 300m people. I do completely appreciate the concerns you raise regarding the freedom of movement across Europe and the strain on our resources that this allows. Reform is needed urgently. As you point out, mass migration from Romania and Bulgaria could create a huge added strain on our deficit reduction plan not to mention our National Health Service and welfare system alike and this is why I am pleased to see that the Ministerial Cabinet committee, chaired by the Immigration Minister Mark Harper, is assessing the rules on legal and illegal migrants’ access to public services and benefits. It is assessing the ‘pull factors’ which attract low-skilled immigration to the UK as well as examining the entitlements to benefits and NHS treatment which EU citizens who come to Britain without a job have. As Chairman of the All Party Parliamentary Group for European Reform, I have recently presided over an enquiry into this issue and plan to produce a series of recommendations for the Government in the next couple of weeks. The papers will be posted onto the www.eufreshstart.org website, along with all the other reform proposals we have made. Lastly, regarding the ever-growing threat of UKIP, I agree that the Conservative Party need to recognise the dissatisfaction of the general public with our current relationship with the EU but I do not believe that we should be scare mongered into leaving the EU prematurely because of the electoral threat of UKIP. The Conservative Party need to act in the best interest of the County, not the Party, and I wholeheartedly believe that serious reform to our relationship with the EU offers us the best prospects.
