Visit to Upton

Over the last several years, many Upton residents have been in contact with me to raise their concerns about the lack of maintenance and repairs to pavements, roads, lighting and signage on their estate. Rightly, they and their parish council continue to be concerned with the ongoing situation.

Last week I toured the estate with West Northamptonshire County Council, the Council’s Highways Department, Homes England, the Lands Trust and local Councillors Nick Sturges-Alex, Brian Sargeant and Imran Chowdhury.

Following this meeting, a number of action points have been agreed with the Council, Homes England and the Lands Trust, including tackling any outstanding works that have yet to be completed. An inspection of the estate will be carried out in six months to establish progress on these outstanding issues. I will also be contacting Metropolitan Housing Association over the lack of maintenance of their properties on the estate and in particular, a property which last year suffered severe fire damage and has not yet been repaired.
