Visit to Wootton Park School

Wootton Park School is a stunning new build providing education from reception through to A Levels and I was invited to hear about their  outstanding results from OFSTED. Mr Dan Rosser, the headmaster took me on a tour of the school and then I had the great pleasure of meeting some of the youngest pupils in their new reading corner where the engineering students have designed and created a ‘talking tree’ called ARBOR. The tree has moving eyes and mouth and a wonderful reading voice and provides great enjoyment and a huge incentive to reading. It was wonderful to see the connection between the older students and the youngest through this shared project

Afterwards I met with a group of year 12 students for a lively question and answer session, with the ongoing conflict in Ukraine being a key topic but also how to young people more involved in politics, the challenge for women in public life, the importance of diversity and the challenge of the cost of living.

My congratulations to the school for all their achievements to date and my best wishes for their future.
