Andrea Leadsom Visits Derby Family Hub

On Monday I received a warm welcome when visiting Becket Family Hub in Derby – meeting new babies, caring parents, and supportive and friendly staff.

Family hubs – available to everyone in the community – are key to providing that support for all children ages 0-19 years, and for children with special and educational needs 0-25 years with development support, including playtime and learning new skills.

The hubs provide excellent support for parents – including breastfeeding, antenatal classes, or baby massages. The Becket Hub which I visited also has its own onsite midwife, who is on hand to help with any check-ups, concerns and general advice for new mums and dads.

Last year we announced £300 million to go to these vital services, and it’s excellent today we have delivered on our promise with these wonderful hubs now up and running in 75 areas.

Alongside this, today I’m extremely proud to announce the start of a new campaign ‘Little Moments Together – which provides free resources and advice to help parents make the most of every moment – such as waiting for a bus or walking around the park.
