SEGRO Logistics Park Northampton Gateway

A number of constituents have contacted me with significant concern regarding the SEGRO Logistics Park Northampton Gateway and their concerns surrounding the apparent change of status from an SRFI to a logistic park with a rail line.

The former definition of use is what was granted government consent following a broad public consultation where the majority of local people were against the project.

I have written to SEGRO asking for an urgent response on the status of the planning permission, as well as confirmation on what measures will be put in place to minimise disruption for residents as part of the ongoing investigations and survey works. I have also pressed for further information on a proposed community liaison group that has been mentioned as part of the development.

Constituents have also raised their concerns about the tree felling on both sides of the M1 around Collingtree as part of Highway England’s SMART motorway programme. I share these concerns, and have contacted Highways England for clarification on details of tree removal, location of refuges and overhead gantries as well as information on a proposed acoustic barrier and low noise road surfacing.

This disruption and uncertainty is causing great distress, and I will continue to press both SEGRO and Highways England on these important issues as a matter of urgency.

As ever, constituents can contact me on andrea.leadsom.mp@parliament.uk to share with me any concerns on this issue.
