Family Support Meeting

Earlier today, I chaired the first meeting of the early years family support group, bringing together ministers from across Whitehall to discuss how we can ensure every child gets the best possible start in life.

The membership of the cross-party working group, as well as myself, includes:

  • Rt Hon Elizabeth Truss MP (Chief Secretary to the Treasury)

  • Justin Tomlinson MP (Parliamentary Under Secretary of State for Family Support, Housing and Child Maintenance)

  • Nadhim Zahawi MP (Parliamentary Under Secretary of State for Children and Families)

  • Jackie Doyle-Price MP (Parliamentary Under Secretary of State for Mental Health and Inequalities)

  • Vicky Atkins MP (Parliamentary Under Secretary of State for Crime, Safeguarding and Vulnerability)

  • Rishi Sunak MP (Parliamentary Under Secretary of State, Minister for Local Government)

We are seeking to identify gaps in available provision and make recommendations on how coordination across departments can be improved, and we will be considering examples of best practice across the country which we can learn from.
