Visit to Silverstone Circuit

Silverstone are taking big steps on the mission towards decarbonisation and net zero!

On my visit last week I met with Stuart Pringle, MD, who introduced me to the new Head of Business Sustainable Strategy, Stephane Bazire. They told me of their impressive ambition for a net zero carbon footprint by 2030, utilising 100% sustainable fuels. They are currently faced with an evolving and changing motorsports industry as it adapts to support decarbonisation, so I was pleased to hear that Silverstone is striving to be a leader of sustainability.

On the track, the team are aiming for net zero powered cars. To the track, they are planning ultra-low carbon emission logistics, which will ultimately be powered exclusively by renewably produced energy. They are taking the steps to install solar panels on the west wing and installing EV chargers on site. In addition, they are looking to ensure that no rubbish from their events goes to landfill. To avoid food waste, they are donating left over food to charities and in particular to Tow Food.

Businesses taking the initiative to tackle climate change will play a vital role in becoming a carbon neutral economy. Many thanks to the Silverstone team for continuing to evolve their strategies to support this change.
