Visit to Lunaz Design

Turning the old into new – Lunaz in Silverstone is leading the way in their innovative work remanufacturing some of the most stunning classic cars on the planet - Bentleys, Rolls and other famous brands - into the next generation of green automobiles. What a visit that was!! I fell in love with at least four of their fully restored and converted luxury models…

But there is much more to them than meets the eye - their real ‘bread and butter’ business is actually the remanufacture of dirty diesel bin lorries into ‘as good as new’ electric vehicles, at half the cost of a brand new electric refuse truck. No more exporting our ‘barely used’ bin lorries at huge cost and carbon waste- instead we will be using them for many decades to come, as we do with aircraft, whose parts and interiors are remanufactured time and time again with the latest tech.

On my recent visit to their Silverstone base, I met with David Lorenz their Founder, and other team members to find out more about their business model and their plans for the future. Lunaz is at the heart of ‘motorsport valley,’ yet their positive approach to remanufacturing and up-cycling is inspirational, offering a proactive and sustainable way to reaching our net zero goals in transport. Why throw stuff away, when you can remanufacture? The company is already creating economic benefit for our area and is helping to project Silverstone’s position as a rapidly growing centre of excellence in clean-technology.

Lunaz are actively looking to recruit 40 more enthusiastic members to join their exciting team- if you are interested in this impressive, forward-thinking company then do check them out!
