Collingtree Smart Motorway Works Update

Collingtree still continues to experience unacceptable levels of noise due to the ongoing smart motorway works on the M1. 

Today I had a virtual meeting with representatives from Highways England, local councillors and the local parish council to make progress on the issue of installing noise mitigation measures including noise barriers and resurfacing of the motorway’s carriageway.

Highways England will be providing further modelling information on the available noise barriers and an explanation as to how these different heights will help to reduce the noise experienced by the village. Additionally, they will also be investigating how the resurfacing of all lanes can be expedited.

I welcome this progress and will continue to work with local stakeholders to ensure that Collingtree and the surrounding area is properly protected from any noise disruption.
