Visit to Spring House, Drug Rehabilitation Centre, Northampton

Thank you Keeley and David for  welcoming me to the Spring House Drug Rehabilitation Centre . We discussed the scale of alcohol and drug problems in South Northamptonshire and the support Spring House provides to residents who are suffering from addictions, including to help those who want to reduce their drug or alcohol consumption but are not ready to abstain fully. I was interested to learn of the support meetings available in Northampton,  Towcester and Brackley and their plans for further help and support. The centre has been trialling a new drug to help combat heroin addiction with positive results and also provides an impressive number of therapeutic and counselling services.   Spring House also has an excellent outreach team who provide one to one support for homeless people, bringing together comprehensive services to help them find their feet, and build a happier future.

I was also given a tour of the newly refurbished “Harm Reduction Suite” which provides a free blood testing service, contraceptives and a needle exchange. This is a welcoming place for clients to drop in and have a chat whilst collecting new supplies, whilst also providing a front door to all Spring Houses rehabilitation services.
